North Carolina State Senate, District 23
I spent sixteen years working in North Carolina’s public schools. My work in the public school system combined with my background in social work has always made me want to make the biggest impact possible. That’s why I decided to enter public office.
Since becoming a member of the NC House, I have continued the fight for our school system and taken on many other issues, including helping to elect other progressive Democrats and working on climate change legislation and initiatives.
I have passed legislation to aid families save money to care for their children with disabilities through adulthood; a bill that helps parents protect their children from online identity theft; and a proposal that makes it easier for families to set up guardianships for aging adults.
