Gwinnett County Commissioner, District 2
Ben Ku is the grandson of Chinese immigrants who helped engineer the original MARTA rail. He has been on the forefront of technology with over 20 years of software development experience and created some of the first websites and apps launched worldwide. Over the course of his career, Ben has been a problem solver helping people both as a consultant and as a local small business owner.
Ben looks to bring a unique, forward-thinking perspective to the Board of Commissioners. Gwinnett County has major issues with transportation problems. The Board of Commissioners is not representative of the rapidly diversifying county resulting in an inequitable allotment of county resources. Ben is running to improve transportation, representation, and communication in Gwinnett.
Depite being a majority-minority county, there has never been a person of color to serve on the Gwinnett County Commission. There has not been a Democrat on the board in over 30 years, yet that can change this year with Ben. As a member of the LGBTQ community, Ben will fight to change the county’s non-discrimination policy which conspicuously leaves out sexual orientation and gender identity.
