U.S Senate, Kentucky
Charles is running for Senate because he knows that the current leadership has failed. As one of the poorest states in the country, he believes that Kentucky has so much to gain from electing a bold, progressive Senator and ousting Mitch McConnell, who has done little to improve the lives of everyday Kentuckians. Charles knows that working together with every Kentuckian they can end generational poverty by pushing for a universal basic income, address structural racism and inequity through broad criminal justice reform, and build pathways for opportunities by passing a Green New Deal and creating thousands of good-paying jobs.
Charles is a lifelong Kentuckian who has witnessed firsthand the failed policies implemented by leadership in Washington. The same problems that he has encountered in the west end of Louisville- poverty, gun violence, and food scarcity- impact people from every corner this state. Those living in rural areas are battling the same obstacles he spent his childhood fighting. Yet there’s a fundamental disconnect between communities. With this in mind, Charles adopted the mantra ‘From the Hood to the Holler’ because he knows that only together can Kentucky create lasting economic and social change.
Charles believes racism has no place in Kentucky. He has been inspired by the protestors in Whitesburg, Prestonsburg, Paducah, and all across the state. He watch his fellow Kentuckians- Brown, Black, white, young, and old- join arms and demanded justice for Breonna Taylor and all those who have suffered police brutality. Kentucky isn’t a tragedy, and it isn’t a joke. Charles knows that they are the future and he is eagered to be a part of the revolution.
