St. Louis Mayor
Help elect Tishaura
A history-maker on a mission, Tishaura Jones served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives and was selected as the first African American woman in Missouri history to hold the position of Assistant Minority Floor Leader. She also is the first African American woman to serve as Treasurer of St. Louis. In her tenure as Treasurer, she launched the Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) to help St. Louisans make better financial choices, as OFE’s College Kids Program has helped over 16,000 public school students start saving through educational savings accounts. With over a million dollars saved to date, these college saving accounts will help more city children get a higher education, using parking revenue, family contributions, and community support.
Tishaura is running to be the next Mayor of the City of Saint Louis to begin saying YES to the opportunity for change and NO to business, as usual, that has left too many behind for far too long. Tishaura’s goal, since the beginning of her career as a public servant, has been to reduce and eventually eliminate the racial wealth gap. Your skin color and your zip code should not be a determinant of your outcome in life. Tishaura believes that we need to realign our priorities in the City of Saint Louis. We need a tenant’s bill of rights to make sure that folks are protected, especially amidst a global pandemic. We need an advocate for a woman’s right to choose in the Mayor’s Office, and we need a better partner with our public schools. Regardless of any identity that you hold, you should be able to grow up and grow old, safely, and with access to great opportunity, in Saint Louis that we are going to build, together!
