City Council, Pinole
I am a candidate for Pinole City Council who is running to become the youngest and one of the first Asian-Americans to take public office in my city’s history. As the son of a proud Filipina immigrant and a Japanese-American father, my mission has been shaped by values of advocacy, resilience, equity, and social justice.
My main priority is to weed out structural racism in our community, and I believe that this must be done by lifting the voices of our most vulnerable Black & Brown communities and solving problems together through policy. I am unapologetic and open about my intentions to treat the root causes of crime in my community by shifting our resources to mental health programs, after-school education, re-entry programs, and other initiatives that our marginalized families in Pinole feel is needed.
